The story of Eve, according to me

I was writing recently about this weeks theme, and it got me to thinking about the types of women I am attracted to. IF you have never read anything I have written before, I like women like Robert Heinlein’s femme fatale heroines.
This got me to thinking about Eve, and that got me to thinking about Lilith, which of course got me to thinking about the ‘original sin’ scam played on western religions.
Before long, I had so many thoughts going at once, I thought I would write them down, since that is why I started this diary in the first place. A therapist once told me that a diary was for feelings, and not thoughts, but damned if she could explain to me how to separate them. So, maybe I don’t get any therapeutic value out of this, but at the very least, I sort out my thoughts on things, and that can’t be bad, in my book.
Anyway, end of rambling, on with ranting…
For those who have never heard of Lilith, she was, in some mythologies, the first wife / partner of Adam. Many of you, most Christians, will point out that Eve was Adam’s wife. I offer for the courts perusal as Exhibit A the Holy Bible, New King James Version..
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Here we have Lilith, created with Adam, not from his rib. She and Adam were equal, in all things. This is the Eve of Mohammed, also, because the Koran also explains creation like this, with the woman being equal to the man. It is only the culture of the Arab world that oppresses women, not the religion.
Not so, will argue my fundamentalist Christian friends, because the Bible tells the woman to submit to her husband; but this is a whole other rant, so I can not get sidetracked here. I offer my proof, however, again from Exhibit A.
Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.
Notice that woman is given dominion in equal share with the man, she is not made subject to the man. They are both in the likeness of God.
[There is also a valid argument that there are two males, as well, and that the first set of man and woman was created between the second and third day. See Genesis 2:4-7. It suggests that the first set of man and woman were created as a workforce, because “..there was no man to till the ground.”
Anyway, I am sticking to the one Adam, two wives theory, for now, but the other one has some interesting tangents to follow.]
As the story goes, Adam was not happy with Lilith. Lilith was too strong of a person for Adam. Some say she even had the nerve to take charge in bed (collective gasp from the readers) and to want to actually ‘be on top’. Adam couldn’t deal with that, so he tossed out Lilith and complained to God that he just couldn’t find good help. (see Genesis 2:20)
So God created Woman,
Genesis 2:22 Then the rib …He made into woman, and He brought her to the man.”
and Adam named her Eve.
Gen. 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and they were not ashamed. (possibly the best bible verse EVER)
Adam thought he had it pretty good. He got to run wild with a lovely tramp named Lilith in his youth, booted her out when he couldn’t control her, and then he petitioned for a more docile version of female that he could control. Or so he thought.
*evil, maniacal laughter*
